“Democratic socialism” is an oxymoron peddled by Dem/Lib morons

Socialism means that the government controls the means of production and there is little “democratic” about it. A socialist government will seize your freedom and property little by little, by force if required.

It’s like everything else controlled by “Big Government” – they take more & more until they eventually control it ALL!

Socialists insist that 'controlling the means of production' is for the corporations. They support nationalization of large companies. But the truth is that over 50% GDP is from small business. So a socialist government would have to regulate all these artisan coffee houses and vegan food trucks too.

It's amusing to think that socialist nations actually use "Democratic" in their name, e.g. "German Democratic Republic,” "Democratic Republic of Congo" and "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" (there’s not enough space here to list them all) – they’re all examples of socialism.

Socialism, Communism and Fascism are very despotic systems of government. Unfortunately many people are unable to "interpret" the written word so they must trust the "zeitgeist.”

Lastly, the phrase “Democratic Socialism” is akin to so-called “Free Healthcare.” If you want to know the truth about a Leftwing program, simply take the first word and replace it with the antonym; this is how you can usually determine the true intent. For instance, the “Affordable Care Act” is actually the More Expensive Care Act; and “democratic socialism” really means dictatorial socialism. Thus “democratic socialism” is synonymous with Liberal Fascism.

Socialism is for blind libertine fools, don’t be one.

All State systems are theft.

Government is good as far as protecting citizens from criminals and foreign oppression, not to mention providing conveniences & recreations (e.g. parks), but "Big Government" is never good; it inevitably becomes tyrannical -- a false god that demands total allegiance & submission -- sucking the life out of the populace through taxes, overregulation and confiscation.

lulz. You're contradicting yourself. How can socialists insist that controlling means of production is for corporations while supporting nationalization? Your post is an oxymoron.

One of the biggest problems with this generation, is the fact that they did not grow up during the Cold War, so they never got to hear about the evils of socialism/communism, or worry about our countries going to nuclear war. To make matters worse, history teachers are now selectively NOT telling them what happened in Russia to cause the Soviet Union to collapse, which was government over-regulation on steroids.

So basically, you've got a lot of grade school teachers and professors who were mentored by former hippies and closet communist sympathizers, now indoctrinating a generation of children and young adults who have no idea what socialism truly means, or why it's a failure. And they're falling for the lies as easily as people in 1930s Germany and 1910s Russia did.

I only hope there are enough people with eyes wide open who can stop this madness before it gets bad.

One of the greatest benefits of this generation is they did not grow up during the McCarthy era which demonized communism so much it brainwashed conservatives into believing all socialism is communism.

So basically you've got grade school teachers and college professors reversing the damage by keeping students informed instead of shouting "communism" and "Marxism" which hold no meaning in our socialism/capitalism hybrid of an economy.

I only hope today's youth continue to keep their eyes open so the crony capitalists fail to create their oligarchical dystopia.

I figured I would've drawn more hyperventilating Lefties with this anti-socialism/communism thread.

Too much text, I guess.
