The US President had just begun proposing a toast to the Queen when the orchestra struck up God Save The Queen.

However, rather than pause and continue the speech after the music had stopped, Mr Obama pressed on when he raised his glass to her.

Protocol demands that people stand to attention when the national anthem is played.

So what you're saying is that the orchestra struck up 'God Save The Queen' at the wrong time, as she had already been seated and was being toasted by the leader of the free world?

You would think those Brits would know protocol, but alas - they don't. I'm sure the conductor's head is still rolling after that major gaffe.
