Rosenstein may be gone soon...

Then he can finally get rid of that pesky Mueller who's indicting all of Trump's cohorts. It's all coming together.

reply

I'm not buying the NY Times report. WaPO and NBC News are both citing a person in the room at the time saying Rosenstein was being sarcastic and his literal quote to be:

"What do you want me to do Andy? Wear a wire?"

Responding to McCabe.

The Times story does not quote any sources that were in the room at the time. I think the Times got played by someone at DoJ in a turf battle with a personal vendetta against Rosenstein by trying to get him axed.

reply

I agree, but Trump might use the story as an excuse to fire the man. Of course, he really just wants to get rid of Mueller because the big man keeps closing in on the Trump inner circle.

reply

It's really a shame NY Times would be handing Trump this justification based on questionable sourcing. Especially right after his climb down from releasing classified information of the ongoing Mueller probe that would have compromised sources and methods, the Times has to hand him this raison d'ĂȘtre.

reply

Yeah I don't put a lot of weight on it either. But this falls right into Trump's agenda.

reply

It looks like Hannity was begging Trump on air not to fire Rosenstein because in his mind this is all part of a deep state trap to get Trump to fire Rosenstein.

Seeing how much he values Hannity's opinion, this might stave off the inevitable. At least for a little while longer.

reply

Deep state trap... oh god. lol.

Also, with CNN anticipating the firing, Trump may not want to give them a chance to be correct.

Last night on MSNBC, there was a legal eagle there who calmed everyone's fears should Mueller be fired:

She claims that Mueller - from day one - knew exactly what he was doing with the investigation, and put enough 'safety nets' in place in case he was ever fired. What did he do? He 'spread out' every part of his investigation into US Federal courts around the country, as well as to DAs - especially in SDNY. As she said, one of the smartest things any investigator could have done.

So this way, should he get fired, his investigations continue without any fractures. As she questioned: what will T-rump do after he fires Mueller? Fire every single Federal judge and DA across the country? NOT going to happen.

reply

We miss the dancer.

Not leaving yet...

reply

Yup. Quite a relief. So long as Rosenstein continues to be there we can feel assured he'll continue to protect the investigation from interference.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall to learn how the dynamics of this development plays out behind the scenes. Surely the prez will hit the roof and demand answers from Barr. But what's he going to do, fire his new handpicked AG? Barr's not a stupid man, he had to anticipate these sorts of confrontations with his boss should he get this job. All eyes are on him now as we try to decipher what his angle is.

reply

Trump committed bank fraud, at the very least. Exaggerated his worth to get big loans. Rosenstein, Mueller and the rest are going to get him.
