ICE agents arrests more than 140 workers in raid on Ohio meat supplier

Damn, it just shows how out of control this illegal immigration thing is...

Seems these businesses don't want to hire legal Americans to pay American wages so they hire cheap undocumented workers instead.

reply

T-rump and the Kushner families have been doing this for decades. I'm sure Manafort and the rest of T-rump's other cronies in his close inner circle have done this as well. Wonder if Michael Cohen hired all American workers and paid them 'American wages' to drive his fleet of cabs for the past ten years?

reply

Yep I know of that too. He's a businessman, a shrill one at that. Doesn't excuse the fact these types of businessmen with their greed is why Americans can't get jobs (even though unemployment is pretty low) so they can pay below average wages and save money for more profits.

reply

They're vermin, both the employers & the illegals.

reply

The illegals aren't vermin. They're people just like you and me. The only difference is they weren't lucky enough to be born on the right side of that imaginary line. It's easy to judge when you were born in one of the most advantageous countries in the world but empathy means being able to imagine yourself in their situation and what you'd be willing to do to provide for your family. Calling other human beings vermin when they are just doing the best they can to survive with the hand they were dealt is wrong.

reply

They've broke & entered this country. They're stealing from America & American citizens. They give a shit for nobody but themselves.

They are vermin. Anybody that will hire them is vermin.

I have empathy for Americans. Those illegal kids on the border are living better than a lot of American kids.

reply

Amazing the lack of empathy I see from Trump supporters, many who claim to be devout Christians.

reply

Yes. I do not have empathy for illegalsPERIOD

We never have any spare change laying around for American children---always have to wring hands, pace floors, bitch & moan before we grudge 'em. But, Lord-a-mercy all the sudden there is a shit load for that scum.

Trump is right, the only reason Congress won't act to stop it is they want the votes and are cultivating them.

reply

Yes but the people in this story aren't people asking for spare change, they are people looking for work.

reply

They broke & entered this country. They're illegal. They don't give a shit about anybody but themselves. They're raping this country.

reply

They give a shit about their families who many are doing this for. Like I said, you just won the lottery and were born on the right side of an imaginary line. You did nothing to earn your place in this country and you call people less fortunate than you vermin and rapists. Incredible.

reply

Tell a kid in the ghetto or in a trailer park in the deep South how lucky he is to be on this side of the line. Maybe they'd like those jobs and pay their taxes for services our tax dollars pay for. Once we get everyone that's here legally sitting on easy street, sure start letting the rest in. Until then, maybe we should take care of our own.

reply

That kid in the ghetto or trailer park may feel like they were born on the wrong side of a different imaginary line (let's say between the right and wrong part of town) but they were born with citizenship rights that so many would give anything for. My point was that calling illegal aliens who are doing their best to provide for themselves and those they love are not vermin, they are people.

reply

I don't condone calling them vermin, because yes, they are people. I don't agree that excuses them breaking the law to better their lives, anymore than you'd excuse someone with financial difficulties shoplifting to better theirs.

Meat-packing plants are just a shade below slaughterhouses as being one of the most dangerous jobs you can have...so basically this company was underpaying these illegals to work at a place that the hazards are high, and also not needing to pay for any occupational insurance for them in the event one of them is injured in an industrial accident. And though it's not mentioned in the article, the company who hired them will probably get away with, what is to them, a financial slap on the wrist in terms of a penalty. To be serious about deterring illegal immigration, the people who provide the work must face stiffer fines and penalties to make it so American workers will be paid justly to do these jobs instead.
