Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says he knows now that his decision to dress up in brownface and a turban for a gala at a private school where he worked 18 years ago was a racist thing to do and he is now "deeply sorry."

Speaking to reporters on his campaign plane, Trudeau apologized for his actions, saying that he now recognizes his actions were racist.

"In 2001, when I was a teacher in Vancouver, I attended a gala. The theme was Arabian Nights. I dressed up in an Aladdin costume and put makeup on. I shouldn't have done that. I should have known better, but I didn't and I'm really sorry.

But this kind of intellectual jesting was no joke when Canada went to war in 1939, and Mr. Trudeau sat it out. He preferred riding around the Laurentians on a motorcycle wearing a pointed Prussian army helmet. Today, it seems indefensible, even immoral. Even if everyone he knew in Quebec was against the war, Mr. Trudeau was not just anyone; he was a proud non-conformist, widely read and well educated, who had visited Europe in the 1930s, but was blind to the evil of nazism.

Well it's a picture, and movies are made of pictures, so let's have some fun :

1. Trudeau seems much more attractive and fun with his costume than normally;
2. Trudeau might be committing a sexual agression on that cute girl;
3. Might even be statutory rape considering the girl he is grabing might be a student;
4. Trudeau is not racist because of blackfaced but because he is perpetuating biases against arab people (sexual harrassment);
4. If Trudeau is racist, I guess all the ladies are also considering they have so much fun with while he's being so allegedly racist just next to them.

I Don't like Trudeau but I would like a real argument explaining why coloring himself would be "racist" in any way. Coloring yourself green to look like a martian is not racist so any other color should not either as long as you do it respectfully. Spare me the hysteria and give one solid argument. If that's possible.

Oh it's not that he is our emperor. The other options are just as bad. Considering that the leader of the Conservatives has said that being a politician means never having to say you're sorry when talking about members of his party who have said racist and homophobic things much more recently that 2001.

They are all horrible, and one of them is going to lead Canada. Just have to decide which is the least harmful to all the people in Canada.

Trudeau is held to a different standard. If this was Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, that had worn Blackface/Brownface not once, not twice, but three times like Trudeau, he would be forced to resign from leadership of the party, and likely the party itself.

There will be no resignation from Trudeau, as he and his liberal supporters are held to a different standard than the leaders and supporters of the Conservative party. In 2001, we knew just as much about racism regarding this as we do today. Brownface/Blackface is nothing new.
