Always Liked Him.

Very likable guy Tim Thomerson is. He's done a bit of everything & I've seen him in a bit of everything, like comedy, "Ruthless People", Sci Fi, "Trancers", TV, "Lands End", etc. He's had quite a varied career & he comes off as the likeable "everyman" type better than anyone I know.

He certainly comes across as just your average Joe, must be a decent fellow. too bad I don't catch him in that much stuff anymore.

I liked him in Near Dark and The Wrong Guys. The Wrong Guys was terrible, but Tim Thomerson has that likable quality to him that you spoke of. He could do everything from drama, comedy, horror, and action. He's like Robert Picardo in that sense.

He was great in Near Dark. Most of his career was spent in low-budget films like Dollman, Trancers, etc. I was surprised he never had a breakout role in mainstream bigger-budget movies.

I agree with the comparison to Robert Picardo, and there are others, like Michael Ironside and Lance Henriksen and Robert Davi. And there are comparable women. These are Journeyman actors and charismatic folks who appear in film and video at every level of quality, and they elevate the crap they’re in and rise to the level of the true quality they are in. They are not A-listers but they provide the good foundation that allows the A-Listers to work. I suggest we call them B+-listers.

He was awesome in Volunteers, a Tom Hanks/John Candy comedy. He had a close relationship with his knife, Mike.

My favorite role was when he was in Uncommon Valor. He got to show some dramatic chops mixed with comedy.

I didn’t see anyone mention my favorite Thomerson movie, Nemesis, the 1992 sci-fi action movie starring Olivier Gruner. So I wanted to give it a plug.

Thomerson stars as Farnsworth, the LA police commissioner. By the time Farnsworth appears on screen, he’s no longer Farnsworth but a cyborg imposter who has killed the real Farnsworth.

I love this movie. Caught it on late-night cable in the mid-nineties. Great action scenes, some of which are gleefully over the top. Thomerson’s performance is appropriately dry and witty while still being menacing.
