When Dennis Miller was a weekend update anchor on Saturday Night Live he did a joke about how the final episode of Miami Vice was airing that week. He then ended the piece by saying "Viewers may notice a slight change in our orbit around the sun when this man falls off the face of the earth," showing a picture of Philip Michael Thomas.

Fans can also assoicate the character with the actor too easily. So new shows shun these actors.

The hot spot and and dead bang were cool movies. Plus he did that show nash bridges and just recently he was in watchmen and knives out.
It's been YEARS since I watched it but I remember loving the movie, Dead Bang (1989). Hopefully it aged well.
