Tilda's film performances - your favourites and why

For an actress who is ubiquitous I've seen her in only 11 films and in one of those, Caravaggio, I don't remember her. Nonetheless I find her a very satisfying actor and wondered which film performances of hers other fans like or enjoy most.

For me it would be a toss up between Orlando and Julia. In both Tilda is main focus and plays a role with many facets.

I could watch any movie just for her, I found her presence compelling and she's so relaxed in front of the camera most of the time even when her choices for a certain role are risky and gives you the impression of " how is she going to pull this off? " and she just does it. I think she's one of the best in the bussines right now, and of course when she has a lead role is an amazing experience to witness all the details she brings to the roles but I also found her very small roles to be some of her most effective work.

My favourite is probably Edward II with Orlando as a close second.
Others that I really, really like are Only Lovers Left Alive, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Young Adam, Female Perversions, Michael Clayton and Julia, but as I said her suporting roles are some of her best, I can think of Adaptation, Moonrise Kingdom, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Snowpiercer and even her sixty seconds in Broken Flowers.

She is compelling and such a chameleon. I thought she was the best thing about Snowpiercer and she was wonderful in The Grand Budapest Hotel. I've not seen Edward II so will add that to my list of films to see. Thanks for sharing.

I remember her most for Orlando, I Am Love, and Young Adam.

Happy to see that you liked Bothersome Man, and Melancholia, two of my top 100 of the last 15 years.

Hi emeiserloh. Not heard of Young Adam, so another for the list. I Am Love is on my radar.

Loved The Bothersome Man, as my score reflected, and loved Melancholia, but not as much as BM! I watched Silent Light too, but preferred Post Tenebras Lux. Will be watching Japon this week too.

She's amazing and definitely Orlando!

My favourite is Orlando, she's such a verstile actress. Someone compared her to young David Bowie and I think it could work if they give her a part of young David in his biopic.

We need to talk about Kevin, hands down. Stellar performance. She is the film. Goddess.
