Kristen's Characters in Hogwarts Houses

Three weeks ago, Screen Rant had an article where they took ten of the characters that Kristen has played and placed each one into one of the four Houses at Hogwarts (Harry Potter).
https://screenrant.com/hogwarts-houses-kristen-stewart-characters/

I agreed with all but one of their choices. Their choices were ...

Gryffindor - brave w/ a clearly defined moral character
Snow White (Snow White and The Huntsman)
Joan Jett (The Runaways)
Melinda Sordino (Speak)
Sarah Altman (Panic Room)
Bella Swan (Twilight Saga)

Ravenclaw - learning and curiosity
Nia (Equals)
Maddy (Catch That Kid) - this is the one I didn't agree with

Huffelpuff - loyal and hardworking
Maureen (Personal Shopper)
Cole (Camp X-Ray)

Slytherin - ambitious and sneaky
Phoebe Larson (American Ultra)
This is where I would have placed Maddy from Catch That Kid. Afterall, she would have done anything to save her dad, including convincing her friends to help rob a bank. If that isn't ambitious and sneaky, then I don't know what is.

OK, now it's time for us to try and place the rest. Well, better make that almost all the rest, because there is virtually no way to place Sophie from Jumper, what with her massive 45 seconds of screen time.

I am now going to list the rest of Kristen's characters along with the houses where I think a few should go to. I ask your help in placing the ones I left out (which is a lot). I shall edit this post by placing your choices onto this list. Also, please feel free to disagree with any of my and/or Screen Rant's choices.

Sam Jennings (The Safety of Objects) - Gryffindor
Kristen Tilson (Cold Creek Manor) - Ravenclaw (as per Mody)
Lila (Undertow) "Can I carve my name in your face?" - Ravenclaw
Maya (Fierce People) - Gryffindor (as per Ron)
Lisa (Zathura)
Lucy (In the Land of Women) - Gryffindor (as per Mody)
Jess (The Messengers) - Gryffindor (as per Mody)
Georgia (The Cake Eaters) - Ravenclaw
Tracy (Into the Wild) - Ravenclaw (as per Mody)
Martine (The Yellow Handkerchief) - Ravenclaw (as per Ron)
Zoe (What Just Happened) - Slytherin
Em (Adventureland) - Huffelpuff
Marylou (On the Road) - Huffelpuff (as per Mody)
Valentine (Clouds of Sils Maria) - Huffelpuff
Lydia (Still Alice) - Gryffindor
Sophie (Anesthesia) - Gryffindor (as per LL)
Beth (Certain Women) - Ravenclaw
Vonnie (Cafe Society) - Slytherin (as per LL)
Kathryn (Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk) - Gryffindor
Bridgett (Lizzie) - Huffelpuff
Savannah (J.T. LeRoy) - Slytherin
BONUS: Young Robin (Cutlass)

I look forward to seeing your choices.

P.S. I have not included Kristen's characters in Seberg, Charlie's Angels and Undertow since those films have not yet been released.

Cool list, took some effort. Though I'm not as familiar with HP as you, given the description of the houses the character comparisons make good sense.

I believe many of Kristen's characters have a combination of personality traits as her characters are often multilayered. That being said, while her character Vonnie in Cafe Society seemingly started of as a Huffelpuff and a Ravenclaw, I would say her predominant trait would fall under the Slytherin House, as she would eventually become the woman she had once despised. Near the outset she claimed she would never live the life of a Hollywood socialite--but that's exactly what she would later become, as she would leave Bobby, who exemplified the qualities she claimed she held dear, played by Jesse Eisenberg, and would instead marry a powerful Hollywood agent, Phil Stern, portrayed by Steve Carell.

Thanks for your response, LL.
I have edited my original post and placed Vonnie into Slytherin along with crediting the decision to you.

C'mon Ron, try and place at least one of Kristen's characters into one of the four Hogwarts houses.

Maya (Fierce People) - Gryffindor - brave w/ a clearly defined moral character.
Maya was fearless, adventurous and had moral character that her elder brother did not. She respected her grand father who was the stability of the family, and for her part Maya was also a more solid personality of an otherwise dysfunctional family.

reply

Can't argue with that logic Ron. Gryffindor it is.

And speaking of Gryffindor, I do believe that I'm going to place Sam Jennings (The Safety of Objects) in there as well. I mean, the kid was kidnapped for crying out loud, yet she came out of it OK. That takes some kind of bravery.

Hey Mody, I hope that we hear from you as well.

reply

Good one CK, I agree on Sam and SoO. :)

Martine (The Yellow Handkerchief) - Ravenclaw - learning and curiosity
I think a case can be made for this one. Martine goes off with people she barely knows, basically on an adventure where she learns about love with Jesse Eisenberg's character. It can also be seen as curiosity that compels her to go on the trek to somewhere she's never been, in order to help out her other traveling companion to try and find his girlfriend/wife. She's a bit of a free spirit.

Two of Kristen's films with a similar feel are The Safety of Objects and Anesthesia, not just because both films connected the lives of a multitude of characters, where their lives intertwined or because both films featured Kristen and Glenn Close. From Kristen's character's POV, it was also because in both, she epitomized the traits of a Gryffindor.

reply

Ckid you did an excellent job placing them bravo as for me

Hmm i think i would place
Lucy in Gryffindor
Marylou in Huffelpuff
Jess is Gryffindor
Tracy Ravenclaw
Kristen is hard to place cause we really don't get to spend lots of time with her but i think Ravenclaw

Thanks for the reply, Mody.
Your suggestions have been entered.

This is kind of fun, matching her movie roles with Hogwarts houses. Gets me to think more deeply about the different roles and the types of characters and how diverse they are.

reply

Yeah, I know what you mean, Ron.

Meanwhile, I can't believe that I'm having such a hard time trying to decide where to place Lisa (Zathura).
Perhaps that's because she was frozen for half the film.
Hey, did any of the four Hogwarts houses have a big ice box? ;-)

Hehe, one of them must have an ice box or something. :)

I had considered Lisa also but couldn't decide. Looks like she could hold characteristics of two houses.

Gryffindor - brave w/ a clearly defined moral character - After the shock of waking and finding out what's going on, she does act brave enough. Such as shoving the piano down the stairs onto the alien that was about to grab her brothers. She shows some toughness there, "Lisa is upstairs!"

Huffelpuff - loyal and hardworking - Loyal also as she does try and save her brother which causes her to get pulled out of the house instead.

reply

Absolutely, Ron. While Kristen excels in portraying dysfunctional characters, on the flip side, she likewise excels in portraying the only normal/rational person in a dysfunctional family, as she did in Fierce People.

reply

Kristen had a small supporting role in the film Anesthesia, so we the audience weren't really given much of her backstory, so her character obviously wasn't anywhere as multilayered as most of her other performances. Nonetheless, her character Sophie was the epitome of a Griffindor, as she was without question, extremely vocal about her moral conviction, despite not having much screen time.

I did this edit a while back--if you notice Ron left a comment praising Kristen's acting--which contains brief clips from her performance in this film that helps illustrate that Sophie laid it all out on the line and did not mince her words--there was absolutely no reason to second guess her core moral beliefs and her sense of right and wrong after she gave her psychiatrist a piece of her mind, with an exclamation point:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr_E59oDEec

Similar to what Ron mentioned in his comment about how she acted in these scenes is her forte, I would add that if Kristen was a character actor and had to choose just one archetype to portray, this would be it. I mean, as brilliant as her onscreen character Sophie was, and simultaneously irrationally sullen and pessimistic, never did Kristen once appear to be overacting or contrived in her delivery.

Emily in Adventureland - I've been trying to figure what house she would go in but it's a tricky one.

One part Ravenclaw - learning and curiosity - She wants to continue college and make something of herself.

Slytherin - ambitious and sneaky - she is sneaky having the affair but also could be seen as ambitious as she leaves home, goes to New York City to continue school.

So I think those two work there for Em. :)

reply

Interesting, though a little random. I wonder what triggered the article. Is she going to be in the next Fantastic Beasts (HP prequel series)?

reply

I haven't heard anything about her being in a Fantastic Beasts series. I think the article is just random as you say, for fun and entertainment. She has had many varied roles so maybe that plays into the idea for the article.
