Kristen at Chanel event

Mackenzie Foy seems to be having some good success in her young career, which surely must have been helped by her Twilight role. Good for her.

The article describes Kristen as a Chanel muse, and Chanel has supported her in two movies - Personal Shopper and Sils Maria. The article has a little about Kristen's views on working with Karl Lagerfeld for her various Chanel events and photo events. They still seem to be a good team.

Just as it's true when acting in Hollywood films, her fashion career is dictated on her terms, as Chanel doesn't make Kristen fit into their mold of thinking, forcing her to conform to a specific vision of what they want her to look like, which is refreshing as art should be more about individual and self-expression than the cookie-cutter approach that is often employed in both industries.

I still find it a bit hilarious that Kristen played Mackenzie Foy's mother in "Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and Part 2", considering Kristen is just 10 years older than Foy and Kristen could have easily passed for a teenager in the final two installments of the "Twilight Saga". Of course, Foy looks very young for her age even now as a 17-year-old Hollywood actress. One of her first acting gigs was on the television series Hawaii Five-O. Foy's biggest role to date has got to be when she co-starred in Christopher Nolan's big-budget sci-fi film "Interstellar". But this will be eclipsed as Foy is playing the lead in Disney's "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms" which will have its theatrical release at the end of this year. Again referring to her youthful looks, Foy is portraying a young girl in this film, even though by the time this film is released in theaters, she will have turned 18. I'm also looking forward to watching this because I have yet to see a movie that Morgan Freeman stars in which I didn't enjoy. Keira Knightly and Helen Mirren, who play supporting roles, are two more reasons to watch it.

Since we're on the topic of actresses who appear younger than their age, I'm a bit peeved that Saoirse Ronan was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. Don't get me wrong--I'm not basing this criticism on the quality of her performance, which I agree was good--but because of the fact that the character Ronan portrayed in "Lady Bird" was five years her junior--Ronan was 22 at the time of the shooting of this film while her character was supposedly 17. I always thought in order for a twentysomething actor to even be considered for an Oscar nomination that an actor had to portray someone at least their age or older. There must be countless coming-of-age films where older actors churned out stellar performances in portraying teenagers which never stood a chance of being nominated, so I'm sensing a bit of a double-standard being applied to certain actors such as Ronan while disregarding the rest. Even though Ronan didn't win this Best Actress Oscar this year, she was the BA frontrunner throughout the awards season.

Interstellar was a very good movie. I really liked it, especially liked the characters and how the story was written. Congrats to Foy for her budding career. I always like seeing a young actor/actress earning their way in the very competitive world of film making. It's a rugged business.

As for Saoirse Ronan getting the Oscar nom, I guess Lady Bird was well received as was her role. But I share some of your skepticism about the nom, as it seems like Hollywood almost has an agenda to make sure certain actors get the top awards. I do really like Ronan though and usually try to see her movies.
