"More Twilight movies would be redundant"

http://theplaylist.net/robert-pattinson-making-more-twilight-movies-20170814/

I found this a bit interesting, thinking of Kristen and Rob's take on what was their biggest roles. Basically a short blurb about what would it be like for more Twilight movies following on where the story ended. I liked the saga for the underworld life it portrayed and would have liked to see that fleshed out more. But the book was more about the romantic relationship so any additional movies would have to be studio written.

That all said though, both of them have moved on to very different and successful careers and I wouldn't want to see them go back to more Twilight. It maybe could have worked with a reworking of the story post Twilight if done right after but now, no way.

I would definitely have to agree with Rob that reprising their roles in a new installment of Twilight would be redundant or too little too late as you mentioned. Hopefully both of them put portraying teen roles in the rear view mirror and never look back.

That being said, I honestly believe that reuniting Rob and Kristen could work in a different film genre--something quite different from the Bella and Edward characters they portrayed such as a drama involving a couple that outwardly hate each other's guts but subconsciously realize they're perfect for each other: think manipulative Scarlet O'Hara and roguish Rhett Butler in a modern day Gone with the Wind.

BTW, I find it odd that your OP states that it was posted 3 days ago, yet I did not recall seeing this OP here on Kristen's board yesterday or the day before, hence the reason why I'm only responding to it now.

I hadn't considered it before, but a film with both of them with an interesting story line, perhaps some kind of drama or drama/thriller, could be interesting. Or even a comedy? Both of them have been doing well with challenging roles.

Yeah, that's odd how this thread didn't show up for you earlier.

Would love to see Kristen and Robert star in a romantic thriller--although the films in this sub-genre rarely receive critical acclaim, nor do most of them do well at the box office--yet I'm still a sucker for romantic thrillers regardless. Take for example Richard Donner's film Conspiracy Theory, which has a rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes rating of 52%. Interestingly, the majority of the male top film critics hated it while all the female top critics gave it positive reviews. I would definitely give this film a thumbs up in large part because of the excellent chemistry Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts had.

A comedy might also work as Kristen did well in Adventureland, Cafe Society and American Ultra, although it might be too much of a stretch to have Rob play her onscreen geeky boyfriend as Jesse Eisenberg has done in those three aforementioned films. You know how Hollywood just loves to have the lead male become the butt of the female protagonist's jokes in rom-coms.

For reference purposes, here are my fave clips of Julia Roberts' performance in Conspiracy Theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g86KE3_Kl8

I can easily picture Kristen playing a similar role, as her performance in American Ultra bore some similarities to Julia's role in CT, although Kristen did not have the benefit of starring opposite an A-list actor such as Mel Gibson nor was she working under the direction of a top notch director such as Richard Donner. However, such was the case when she starred in David Fincher's Panic Room, co-starring with Jodie Foster.

That movie, Conspiracy Theory, was pretty good and I really like Mel Gibson. I think I'd like him and Kristen in a movie together. She has been in quite a few movies with A-listers - Julliette Binoche, Adam Baldwin, James Gandolfini, Jodie Foster. And many other notables whether or not A-listers. Such as Bruce Dern, William Hurt, Maria Bello, Julianne Moore and more. Kristen has had many roles, been in many movies. She's done well for herself and now getting into some directing as well. Like she has said, if she hadn't gotten into acting then she'd still be working in some part of the movie making business.

This movie was very underrated. For starters there were good performances by its lead actors Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts. And all good thrillers must have a good villain as well which Patrick Stewart portrayed well. Witty and engrossing screenplay written by Brian Helgeland who is one of my fave screenwriters when it comes to thrillers such as Payback, Man on Fire, Blood Work and L.A. Confidential to name a few. This film also had one of my all-time fave soundtracks which was composed by Carter Burwell. And lastly, major props should be given to the director of this film Richard Donner who also directed the star vehicle for Mel Gibson, namely the Lethal Weapon quadrilogy.

Other noteworthy actors Kristen starred alongside, all of whom were nominated for at least one Oscar include: Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Eddie Redmayne, Melissa Leo, Tim Robbins, Steve Carell, Michael Shannon, Forest Whitaker, Jesse Eisenberg, Sam Waterston, Sharon Stone, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Bob Hoskins, Kristen Wiig, Catherine Keener, Anna Kendrick and Patricia Clarkson. And also several who have been nominated for at least one Golden Globe award: Donald Sutherland, Meg Ryan, Ryan Reynolds, John Leguizamo, Dylan McDermott, Kurt Russell, Ian McShane, Penelope Ann Miller, Jennifer Beals, Elizabeth Ashley, Dennis Quaid, Elizabeth Perkins, Guy Pearce and Connie Britton.
