Kristen makes Taste of Cinema's The 25 Best Actresses of the 21st Century list.

Even as a self-professed fan, I was pleasantly surprised that Kristen made this list considering she's in quite exclusive company as well as the fact that several critically acclaimed actresses didn't make the cut including Melissa Leo, Helena Bonham Carter, Annette Benning, Laura Linney, Hilary Swank, Saoirse Ronan, Anne Hathaway, Brie Larson, Rachel McAdams, Kristin Scott Thomas and Laura Dern to name a few.

However, I must also admit that I do feel somewhat vindicated since Kristen has gotten snubbed when her critically acclaimed performances (e.g., Clouds of Sils Maria, Still Alice, Cafe Society, Personal Shopper) failed to garner her a single major acting award nod (i.e., Oscar, GG, SAG).

I'm guessing a major factor in Kristen's inclusion involves her stellar performances in Olivier Assayas' films, one of which garnered her international acclaim, most notably her becoming the first American actress to have ever won a Cesar--something I believe the Taste of Cinema could not overlook since they claim to focus on World Cinema. What else could explain why Kristen ranks higher than the one whom many consider to be the greatest actress of her generation, Jennifer Lawrence?

This recognition is very nice. I feel it's well deserved given the types of roles and films Kristen involves herself with. The roles often portray challenging and interesting types as in Sils Maria and Café Society or those with persons in difficult circumstances such as Speak, Personal Shopper, The Cake Eaters. So I also feel a bit vindicated as a fan for similar reasons as you state LLOwens. Kristen gets bypassed and perhaps we shouldn't see it as major snubs since many actors/actresses have the same happen, but she seems to be one of those up top for getting the snubs.

You got that right Ron! For example:

How many American actresses have ever won a Cesar award? Only one. Kristen.

How many Hollywood actresses have won awards from the most prestigious film critics groups in the world, including awards from the New York Film Critics Circle, National Society of Film Critics, Boston Society of Film Critics and Los Angeles Film Critics Association as Kristen did for Clouds of Sils Maria and yet have failed to receive a single major accolade (Oscar, SAG, Golden Globes)? To my knowledge, only one. Kristen.

How many Hollywood actresses have received lots of critical acclaim year, after year, after year, and yet still haven't received a single major accolade (Oscar, SAG, Golden Globes)? I'm pretty sure there are a few other actress in this category yet can't think of a single actress besides Kristen who is more deserving.

Sorry guys but Lawrence sucks. I always watch her films andI always feel that she's piggy backed by her other more reputable co-stars. Lawrence is just good for Hunger Games that's it. Our girl Kristen carries her own weight.

I should start off by saying that I consider Lawrence to be one of the most talented actresses of her generation--she was wholly deserving of her Oscar nom for her performance in Winter's Bone. She displayed standalone talent if you ask me.

That being said, it can also be argued that she has benefited greatly from being cast in Oscar bait films which she could ride the coattails of. For example, American Hustle received 10 Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director. Silver Linings Playbook received 8 Oscar noms including Best Picture, Best Director along with 4 acting noms. Even Winter's Bone received 3 Oscar noms, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

But then one might ask: Didn't she receive an Oscar nom for Joy--a film which didn't receive any other Oscar noms? True. But here's where it gets odd. This film as a whole was neither critically acclaimed nor commercially successful. And even when it comes to Lawrence's individual performance, she did not receive much in the way of critical praise--especially not anywhere as much as Kristen received for Clouds of Sils Maria like I mentioned in my previous comment in response to Ron. And yet she still managed to receive her fourth Oscar nom for Joy. If this nom wasn't a result of campaigning, can anyone please tell me why she received a nod for this?

Yes, Lawrence is talented, but can anyone say with a straight face that she's not overrated? Kristen is likewise talented, but relatively speaking, I strongly insist she is underrated in terms of the major accolades she should have but has yet to receive.

I beg to differ about Lawrence. I just think she over plays her roles. And she's a self entitled princess who cries too much about not being paid enough for her roles and she's not that attractive as some people claims she is. I have seen her without make up in pictures. She's often haggard and bloated. Kristen despite her cigarettes and weed smoking, and her limited personal wardrobe, still seems to be in pretty good shape and have healthy skin compared to Lawrence- nevermind Kristen being four months older.

All I can say is Lawrence could not pull of a buzz cut like Kristen has and appear anywhere as stunning as Kristen will be when she stars in Underwater.
