fyi to trash connoisseurs, there's a nice little selection of doris wishman films coming to the criterion channel this october. i've only seen a handful of her films, so it will be very nice to have the chance to check the box on these.

and i know i saw double agent 73 years & years ago - back in the 90s i'm pretty sure - & i only vaguely remember it, so i can't attach a rating to that right now. but i'm very much looking forward to seeing it again & see the rest for the first time.

sharenothing new, but the 2007 french home invasion horror 'inside' is playing at the little art theatre down the street tomorrow, so i might catch that.
there's one user here who names that film every time someone starts a 'what's the worst film you've ever seen' thread. i disagree! it's brutal and mean and incredibly good imo!
i'm definitely going to be catching venom. & i might finally break down and catch free guy later this week, since i keep hearing that it's a really fun little movie.

I saw Dear Evan Hansen yesterday and really enjoyed it, rating it a 9/10. I'll probably go and see Venom 2 next weekend. I signed up for a movie membership program at the local theater. I get 1 free admission plus discounts on admission and concessions and earn points that I can redeem for admissions and concessions. Does your theater have a program like that? And have you/would you join something like that?
sharei signed up for the cineplex program. i have to admit i don't recall all the details of what they offer, aside from one ticket per month & a discount on further admissions. i don't generally get anything from concessions, so all i really care about is the break on ticket prices.
i was thinking about checking out evan hansen, but the wan bordering on hostile reviews kinda put me off of it.
you know i love you and your magnificent beard, but when i look at the people i follow on letterboxd, i'm seeing a lot of them giving 0.50 ratings to that movie. that said, that almost makes me curious to see what could be provoking that much vitriol from people.
i really don't know anything about it. do you know why people hate this thing so much?
Yes. I don't think it is the quality of the film or the performances that people are hating on. Some people hate the storyline and the main character. There is a tragedy and a misunderstanding and the main character is in a difficult situation where he tells a lie to spare someone's feelings. The lies escalate and the situation spirals out of control. I don't think he lied for personal gain or malicious reasons, but out of good intentions. The feel touches upon heavy subjects like mental health issues and suicide and some people didn't like the way the film handles it.
shareoh, & i might catch 'the guilty' too. i caught the original danish film around the time it was released & liked it quite a bit. i've heard mixed things about this, but i'm up for giving it a shot.
