This entire board PROVES that racism is alive and well

I am shocked by some of the posts on this board. People venting hatred at this woman for no other reason than the color of her skin. People should be ashamed of themselves for posting such hate. And I will tell you one thing-what goes around comes around. That's right! Your daughters WILL marry Black men!

reply

For real---a lot of these racist a$$holes posting on this boards just can't STAND the fact that none of the blond white chicks in the film won---these trolls can just go *beep* themselves for all anyone cares! God forbid a black woman should have won over the little white girls----all those crazy-a$$ bastards have blown a gasket since then! HA HA HA HA HA HA! Kiss it, you bastards!

Many of the black people are mad at the fact that she won playing a mammy character. In 2012 black women are still getting rewarded for playing old stereotypical characters. That's disturbing.

It's not disturbing when the material is that good and it's one of the few 'women's' pictures that has been made in the past few years. Most women's roles are absolute rubbish with very little depth. This film brings women's issues albeit at a time in history centre stage. It's about standing up to bullies and real friendship between women not romantic *beep* about women chasing men. It's also about how hateful women can be to each other and how horrible groups of women can be. Millie is a great character and a fantastic role for Octavia Spencer- she's sassy, funny, audacious and brave.

Well said.

It has nothing to do with the fact that she's black, it's the fact that she's quite possibly the ugliest woman in hollywood. No one complains about actresses like Kerry Washington or Halle Berry.

I'm shocked that you're shocked lol.

These people are so angry because they know they are idiots and are beyond repair.

It seems, mankind will never learn to give credit where credit is due, and appreciate the talent of others.

Personally, I happen to adore Ms. Spencer. She appears to be a woman who not only carries her beauty on the outside, but inwards as well. And, to be honest, she's the only reason I sat through those stupid award shows in 2012. I can't stand them but I wanted to make sure I was able to hear her acceptance speeches.
