MovieChat Forums > Octavia Spencer Discussion > Apparenty she's a narcissistic b*tch...

I have an autograph collector buddy who collects celebrity autographs in person, usually out on the street with a stack of photos to get signed.

He told me a while ago that Octavia first refused to sign anything for him, but after she came out of where she was after about an hour of waiting, she signed only one of his photos after really having to beg her for it. Needless to say, he no longer goes after her for signatures.

So I bet this story has at least some truth to it based on that.

She's a sell-out and she has a crappy personality on top of that? guuurrrllll

The main character is a white girl. Lol with the little representation of people of color there already is, leave it to this broken English speaking maid (the help) to not make something that the kids in her community can relate to.
Plus when will they stop making movies from that era where black people are speaking slave English. Every old person I know including my grandparents spoke regular english. There was know "u is kind" *beep* Stop it Hollywood.

^^^That's exactly why I stopped supporting her. She has a stank attitude on top of that. Why a white female lead with her colored sidekicks? Some person had the nerve to call that diversity! lol. I left a review on Amazon.com on both of those books and those people are NOT trying to understand our side.

No "u is kind" *beep*

I saw her today at the Festival of Books at Usc and she seemed nice,Although I didn't but the book as I'm 17 and I'd have no interest in it. But nothing about her seemed narcissistic. She answered a lot of children's questions and her speech was inspiring.

Well of course she is going to behave after those initial reports.

I am so shocked about this. I met Octavia years ago when she was performing in The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife at a small theatre in L.A. (her first play, according to Del Shores, the writer-director). And she could not have been nicer or more gracious. Of course, that was long before she won an Oscar for The Help and I know they say fame changes people, but this is such a 180 that I am speechless. Maybe she was having a really bad day (everyone has them) or wanted to protect herself, as the other poster said. Or maybe the water incident was just the last straw in a long series of things. (I have had similar things happen after being on set for 12-14 hours and not even being given water, not to mention anything to eat. Trust me, if you are not in the entertainment industry, you have NO IDEA the kind of things that actors are subjected to. That's why we have a union in the first place.) No, she's not Elizabeth Taylor (who i'm sure would never have behaved this way), but she IS a human being...who has had a VERY fast rise to fame, and probably not much experience dealing with it. Just keep that in mind.

He carries illegal weapons, drives fast cars, and wears clothes obviously designed by a homosexual.
