Such a long way from someone who played J Jonah Jameson in spiderman movies to an oscar winner. His hard work is paying off. Congrats

You say that like Spider-Man is some sort of trashy film franchise that is beneath you.

Don't be a movie snob, The Spider-Man films are great and entertaining slices of popular culture and Simmons was tremendous in them which is what probably got him noticed and Simmons himself says he'd love to return to the role so it's obviously good enough for him.

I wonder when Simmons will be cast in a Lars Von Trier movie. Trier said he has watched the first Raimi movie and this is the reason he made movies that star Willem Dafoe and Kirsten Dunst.

I didn't say spiderman is a bad thing. I'm a HUMONGOUS Marvel fan.
Comic based movies have never been considered as "real" movie by the critics. The same with the actors who play in cbm movie.

j.k. simmons was always a very good and respected actor, even before spider man, I'm glad he won a oscar he totally deserves it.
