Revelation about Taylor in 'John the Revelator' episode

He takes Jaxx into the cage to tell him about what he knows about Donna's murder. If you turn the commentary on during this episode, someone admits to giving Taylor some grief about "method" acting. Apparently, Taylor has been a real cop. Looking at his acting history, I wondered why he only did a couple of roles a year.
