Go-To Guy for "Evil White Man" roles.

It's Shannon's schtick. Characters who aren't just evil, but evil because they are white and male. Can't make an "evil white man" movie without him.

Or Mads Mikkelsen. Or Christoph Waltz. Or Gary Oldman in the 90s

Actors get typecast. It's always been a part of Hollywood and always will be

Those guys play a lot of evil characters, too, but their characters generally just serve the role of antagonist without a racial element. Mikkelsen even plays a lot of heroic people. Michael Shannon specializes in the "white male = evil" kind of villain.

No he doesn't. In what film besides Shape of Water does he play a villain in which he is explicitly a chauvinist?

I've seen plenty of his villainous roles and I can't say that he specializes in what you describe

That said, I think he played a bigot in Premium Rush if I'm not mistaken. Fantastic villain. Really worked well within the story.

yaa i remember when Zod was wokified and became a cringe white supremacist... oh right..

movies have had bad white guys since forever since the beginning of time

-norma bates
-the joker
-hanibal lect
-darth vader
-eveyr bad guy in the godfather
-every bad guy in casino
-the terminator
-Count Dracula
-Hans gruber
-bascially every bond villain

So to you, there is no discernible difference in presentation between, say, Darth Vader in "Star Wars" and Shannon's portrayal of Strickland in "The Shape of Water"?

My point is, the White villains in earlier films were villains who simply happened to be played by Caucasians oppressing everyone on the "good guy" side. Now, we're seeing people like Shannon consistently portraying White villains who specifically exist as Leftist's strawmen "White Conservatives" to oppress gays, minorities, the disabled, etc.

you've mentioned one example, over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. when people call you out you just repeat your nonsense. as if bringing up the shape over water multiple times with somehow confuse us he has played multiple of this character. when you write something like
