Weakest part of Sherlock

Straight up distraction from an otherwise amazing show. Over acts way too much. Super poor casting choice. It would be better to have a bad actor than someone who is so lame as this dude.

We do THIS together.

You're kidding, right? He's amazing on Sherlock. His characterization of Moriarty is something no one would think to do, and he makes him a standout character who's pretty captivating to watch. Moriarty has (had) some of the best lines of the series.

Sherlock is an outrageous character. Since Moriarty is his intellectual match, he needs to be just as outrageous and play to that match. If he played a straight criminal or one that's not as emotionally damaged as Sherlock, he'd be child's play for Sherlock. Scott is brilliant as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, unless someone is as well-schooled in Sherlock as the writers are (and, I'm sure, the actors have read Arthur Conan Doyle's stories,) I think we should trust that the writers know what they're doing.

Did you read any of the books? Yeah Moriarty is flamboyant, because he's brilliant and completely insane. How normal do you think a criminal mastermind should be?

reply

Totally agree. He's awful. He simply can't act.

At first, I didn't like this Moriarty either, but I came around after watching several times and noting how Cumberbatch/ Sherlock reacted to him. It makes sense that Moriarty is so odd and unpredictable, since that is what holds Sherlock's attention-not just intellect but mystery. If Sherlock is baffled by Molly offering herself to him, then how much more mystifying, and therefore interesting to him, is a villain who alternately flirts with and tries to destroy Sherlock? A more sedate Moriarty would not have held Sherlock's attention, and by extension, not ours either. I love his sinister playfulness, he's so unabashedly evil!

You're out of your mind, and clearly do not have the slightest clue what you are talking about when it comes to recognizing talent.
