Remember when Siskel and Ebert said he was dead back in 1980?

I think it was their review of Battle Beyond the Stars, one of them commented that Saxon had died. They were off by FORTY YEARS!
RIP John Saxon.

reply

And he outlived them both.

reply

Do you have a clip or quote of them stating that?

reply

I think they said it during their review of Battle Beyond the Stars(1980?)and then the next time they were on(I don't think Sneak Previews was a weekly show back then) they apologized. Please note I could be wrong about this, they may have mentioned another actor instead of Saxon. He was in Battle Beyond the Stars wasn't he?

reply

Yes, and I saw it when it was released and vaguely remember Siskel & Ebert's review of it (I think they gave it a moderate review like half thumb up or something like that LOL).

Weren't Siskel & Ebert still on PBS back then too? Their show's intro use to be that circus-like whistling tune.

reply

Sneak Previews was a great show. When they left they could not use the same name, so I believe they called it at the movies, and they had to use another theme song too.

reply

Yep, they were Sneak Previews on PBS until Aug/Sep 1982, then Tribune took over for a few years.
Gene or Roger gave Battle Beyond the Stars the dog of the week, ouch I kinda liked it!

reply

Hah, maybe they just didn't think any actor in a stinker like "Battle Beyond the Stars" would have to courage to go on living! ;-)

reply

Please tell me there's footage of this.
