reply

Cannibal Apocalypse is my favorite of his.

reply

forgot about that one. saw it a long time ago.

reply

It has one of the most amazing shot gun blast in B Film history. πŸ˜€

C-lister. He was a solid supporting actor, never had the spark to be leading man material.

He was in Enter the Dragon and a lot of 70s era made-for-TV.

reply

He was leading man in films also.

reply

He was the leading man in some made-for-TV movies I know of. If he was a leading man in any major theatrical movies it must have been before my time.

Any to suggest?

reply

Years and years ago I saw War Hunt. I thought it was a good film and that he was good in it. However when you look at his credits I suspect this was about the last of his Hollywood film leads and films prior to this seem to have been 'angry young man' roles that he was probably ageing out of. So yeah, I think he was a lead for a few years a long time ago.

Cannibal Apocalypse (1980). It’s hard to find but well worth the trouble. πŸ˜€

I think he did. Being an A-lister is often just fortunate happenstance. A single casting choice could could change the entire trajectory of any actor's career.

He may have been a bit short for a lead man back then, but otherwise, he had the looks and the acting chops to be a big name. Just never hit that lucky role IMO.

reply

Agreed. He could play any range of character, from villain to heroic lead to charming rogue to romantic lead to comedy. One of those actors who never got the public acclaim, but always gave his best.

reply

John Saxon was a great actor. He will be missed.

reply

Wonderful actor, very handsome in his prime.

reply

I always thought so as well. Handsome, that is. With the right wig he could have played a real Prince Charming I imagine.

reply

R.I.P.

reply

Damn! So many passing away lately.

He’ll always be Lt. Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street to me. Was happy to see him come back for the 3rd film and New Nightmare.

R.I.P. Mr. Saxon.

reply

RIP. He could really play a convincing badass.
