The outstanding talent actually won for a change! Well done!

I've looked at some of the other threads on this board, where a lot of ridiculously stupid muppets are trying to disparage Mark Rylance's performance. Reality, though, is that he was superb and actually won for the right reason for a change. To anyone who has any clue at all re what actually constitutes a great performance (and is capable of understanding the difference between actuality and preference), he was the standout. And so much a standout in what wasn't a close race, that it just couldn't be ignored and reward actually went to where it was most deserved for a change rather than rewarding the "role", to effect, or a personal (too long "overlooked"/comeback) story. Well done Mark Rylance! You've been overlooked by Hollywood for far too long.

And just for the record, to those who are aesthetically challenged and can't tell the difference between good and great (and probably not between awful and great either), it is generally deemed wiser not to flap your mouth to let everyone else know how inadequate you are. It's not just in this arena either. There is an old adage that is one of the great truisms re life in general for very good reason. Many of you would do well to pay heed!
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

And what a gracious acceptance speech he gave too. Well done, Mr. Rylance.

I first saw him in Angels & Insects many moons ago - interesting actor, to be sure.

He has got to be, hands-down, the most restrained actor in film history. How he manages to convey such intense motion without ever raising his voice is beyond me. That bridge-crossing scene was chilling and so moving. SO glad he won.
