BET Comedy Awards

Who seen it when it came on last night? Did y'all see what happened? Well, for those of you who didn't, here's what happened:

A comedian, Paul Mooney (sp?), did a little stand up. He gave out HIS OWN award called the, "Wake Up *beep* Award" (which is an ignorant title to begin with. And yet I still ponder who the hell is he giving out his own little awards?!). But among his nominees were Michael Jackson, two others (I forgot)... and then Diana Ross. Well... he said, "That bitch was drinking and driving... and was drunker than ever" and a little more stuff. And he ain't realize that Tracee was in the audience the whole time while he was DISRESPECTING her mother.

And so later on in the show, Steve Harvey (the host) came out to give an apology to Tracee for Paul's comments. And the whole room stood up and applauded. Me personally, that was very big of Steve to do that. But Tracee looked VERY hurt. I felt sympathetic for her. Yeah, it's comedy. But dissing family is a no-no.

But I'm still trying to figure out who the hell is Paul Mooney?! But big ups to Tracee for winning the award for being the Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Series.

And I do not know when the show will re-air again. But overall, it was a GREAT show. Some offensive comments were made, but... that's what comedians must lower themselves to these days to get a decent laugh.

I saw it and I was totally in shock. I am used to Mr. Mooney's stand up act..I've seen him several times on Dave Chappelle's show. He was so disrespectful and he knew Tracee Ellis Ross was in the audience...hell she was on at the beginning of the show. There's a difference between comedy and being downright offensive and crude. I posted a message on his message board.

I saw the show and I thought it was a great show but I also know that when comedians talk about Michael Jackson most of the time Janet Jackson is in the audience and I don't see anybody giving out apologies to her.I say if you do crime you should be able to stand what is going to come with it just like everyone else does.I am a huge fan of Diana and also Tracee but like someone said that is what comedians do.I think it was disrespectful of Mr. Mooney to do so in front of Tracee but I also think that celebrities know that once they get arrested or caught doing something they shouldn't be doing they know what is going to come next.As far as the wake up *beep* wake up award I think that if she is drinking and driving I do think she should wake up.What if next time she drinks and drives she injures someone will that be her call to wake up *beep* wake up.I think it is to late then to wake up.So if him saying wake up this way wakes her up then I am very happy for her.The time is now not later.

I personally thought Lil Kim should have won the award. The drunk driving happened in 2002.

I agree, may have been disrespectful, but that is the price you pay for being famous. Everything gets analyzed, sometimes over-analyzed. I don't think it takes away from Diana's career for making a mistake. Neither, does it take away from Mooney, for speaking his mind. He to has had a good career, from his stand up, to his work as a writer.

IF YOU DONT KNOW WHO IS Paul Mooney THEN YOU SHOULDNT EVEN POST. THIS IS HIS NATURE.. HE IS GONNA COME FOR YOU. HE HAS BEEN HERE SINCE THE DAYS OF RICHARD PRYOR. HE HAS HISTORY. HE HAS MONEY HE HAS WRITTEN FOR MANY COMEDIANS.

STEVE HARDLY SHOULDNT HAVE DONE WHAT HE DID. COMEDIANS DONT GO AFTER COMEDIANS.

Co-Sign Trunks. Mooney wasn't treating her unfair; that's how his jokes are. If you can't stand the heat then get out the kitchen.
