As Joe Rogan’s Platform Grows, So Does the Backlash. Why?
Joe Rogan and his podcast is a classic example of what happens when echo chamber morons finally have to reach a broader audience outside of their little bubbles. All of a sudden, after spending so many years huffing off their own fumes, now they have to contend with a reality in which they've become the fringe. On top of that, they have to deal with people smart enough to not only call them out but not tolerate their nonsense.
In the case of Joe Rogan, he and his fans have spent the past couple of years priming him as this intellectual powerhouse and this generation's Dick Cavett. However, anyone outside of that delusional bubble who's listened to this podcast knows that it's the opposite. Rogan is a con artist.
How so? What he does is invite intellectuals onto his show with the pretense of giving them a place to reach a broader audience than they usually would. So, for example, he'll invite someone like Neil deGrasse Tyson on, and Tyson will think, "Oh, great! I can reach the young male jock demographic instead of the insular academic crowd." Tyson walks away feeling proud of himself, thinking he's done his part to help make this demographic smarter. But what Rogan did was cynically use Tyson to legitimize his own crackpot views, which his audience accepts without question, based on the logic that if he was "smart" enough to interact with Tyson on his show, they're intellectual equals and therefore anything Rogan says must be true.
Joe Rogan has been able to get away with this b.s. for years, because being part of an echo chamber, there was no one to call him or his fans out. Now that he's out in the mainstream, he's getting a lot of flack precisely because the mainstream isn't stupid enough to fall for his tactics and are bearing his comments much more scrutiny.
Of course, people making the biggest stink about all this are the transgender zealots. But they're not the only ones, and naturally, to deflect attention away from what a con artist Joe Rogan his, he and his fans are going to want to single them out and pretend that only the "woke" contingent have a problem with what he says. It's not the woke. It's anyone who hates misinformation and disinformation, as well as posers like Rogan trying to pass themselves off as something that they're not.
