He should really only direct other people's screenplays. Other than Bronson all of his films are really too surreal. I love Lynch, Kubrick, and Ingmar Bergman but Refn is too much. I love Drive and I think he's got truly great visual style. I just don't like his writing.
shareHe didn't even write Bronson, just took credit for it. Kelly Marcel wrote most of the script, Tom Hardy asked her to come in when he was faced with a no script scenario. But the self aggrandizing Refn not only cheated her out of a screenplay credit, but now claims the film was really about HIM, not Peterson/Bronson.

No. He gets horrid, stilted performances from otherwise decent actors. He belongs in the camera department, for sure. But keep him away from actors, word processors, and the editing suite.
