I'm more of a Cagney/Bogart fan but I really enjoyed him in They Drive by Night, He's also great in Each Dawn I Die and Some Like it Hot, I've not seen many of his other films, but Nocturne is on my to see list.

I like Raft in the right part but I think he was very limited, or perhaps limited himself to preserve the image.

I think he limited himself to a narrow type of roles; however, in those roles he was always excellent.
