Family values

I am an old fashioned type of person (79 years old) who was born on October 9th (also Libra). I have read disparaging remarks about Molly and due to her young age, would not entirely dismiss them. I know I will never have the opportunity to ever meet her in person. My exposure will always be via the TV show "Castle". It is one of my favorite shows because it displays family values, whether true or not off screen, but at least on screen. It mirrors my own relationship with my own daughter, now all grown up. The relationship of my daughter with her own children again mirrors my own experience. The Castle story is fiction, I know, but wish so terribly that it was true. At least the family values as portrayed on TV might reach the TV audience and be considered. People pick up a lot from TV; some good and some bad. It's all about projecting an image. The cast of Castle reflects a positive image.

A lot of REAL teenagers are like that actually. They get good grades, get along with their parents, but yet aren't friendless, dateless losers. Hollywood just prefers to make movies and TV shows about the obnoxious ones that disrespect teachers and parents, do drugs, have promiscuous sex, whatever.

I don't want to sound like one of the religious right types, but Hollywood IS very jaded and they often make things a lot uglier (if also a lot sexier) than they really are. There are a lot of good kids--and good people--out there. That's not wishful thinking at all.

I agree, it is nice to see that family values are an important part of the Caste story. It is also a good counterpoint to all the crime that happens in the episodes.

My problem is that Castle is a several times divorcee.

Why couldn't they have had a "mom dies in childbirth type of background.
Instead, Richard marries around like he's a floozy, or something.

So you would see a woman rather die than divorce. You are crazy.

Right?
Not to mention the dead wife trope has been done to death.
