I think what Columbia Pictures did to her career was unforgivable.


I only found out the other day that the reason that we didn't see Aileen Quinn in any films for many years after Annie was that she was contractually obligated to the Annie sequels that never happened.

Why should a studio have a right to say if a child can act in any other film in the meantime? And, if they knew there weren't going to be any sequels to Annie, why didn't they release her from her contract?

We lost a great child star thanks to them.

Playing devil's advocate, Aileen (through representatives of course) signed the contract knowing full well what it said. Not completely Columbia Pictures' fault by any stretch of the imagination.

She was a child my friend. Regardless of what she knew, I'm sure she never meant to sign away her right to work. They took advantage of her, plain and simple.
