I think it was only for the money, to support his huge family. Prison Break definitely made him a wealthy man, but that show ended a while ago. He really only does smaller indie films nowadays. About 2-3 of them a year, and that probably only gets him about $20,000-$30,000 per film, maybe more due to his star power, and that isn't nearly enough to support his family & ongoing career. Uwe Boll's *beep* projects were probably extremely easy & quick money for Dominic, as they were low budget B-List films that wouldn't hurt his career one bit.

Prison Break is back though he's also doing Legends of Tomorrow.
And indeed he had to provide for his family, he has 4 kids to feed.

Dominic Purcell originates from some kind of unknown Euro country. Uwe Boll also is from some Europe country , Afghanistan or London. This is how they connected. Both foreign.
