Fired from 'The Class'

We have breaking news about, and not from, Holly Ellenbogen: A CBS spokesperson confirms that Lucy Punch, who played The Class’ high-strung news anchor, is being dropped from the series. In a statement released to TVGuide.com, the freshman sitcom’s executive producers explain, “Due to creative changes, Lucy Punch is no longer a cast member. She is a superb actress and did a fabulous job. We hope to work with her again in the near future.” I guess this is what Jason Ritter meant when he told me they were “reworking some things” with Punch’s character, though Holly’s “colorful” hubby, played by Sam Harris, will apparently stick around.

According to an article I read, Lucy wasn't exactly "fired". Apparently the writers decided that they were going to minimize her character and give her less storylines and have her as a recurring character as opposed to a regular. They offered this to her but Lucy didn't like it and chose to leave completely. They weren't going to fire her, they were just offering her a smaller role. She could have stayed, but chose not to. It's a shame, she was my favorite.

Of all the silly nonsense, this is the stupidest tea party I've ever been to in all my life.

I noticed she wasn't in the show this week...I did think her character was the weekest on the show. I'm sure she is a great actress, the character of Holly just didn't seem to gel with the others.

The Class is just such a great show - we love it.

Keep it going CBS!!!

Jason Ritter is a doll.

Come on....Fern Vs Holly was just about to start.

Thanks for the news--but that's too bad; we were wondering what had happened to Holly Ellenbogen. I thought she and her clueless relationship with her husband (not to mention her daughter Oprah) had some of the funniest moments in the early episodes of the show. Bad call by the CBS bigwigs.

This is such a shock! I wondered last week, then this week. Her character is so needed for the plot(especially about the Fern storyline). I noticed a great change in the writing this week too. This sitcom always had a plot going to leave you wanting more..and tonight, I was like.."So now what?"

This show was more than one liners. I hope this show won't go down the tube without her character connecting the other characters together.

Yes I noticed that, since the CBS Producers didn't come up with a storyline of what happened to Holly after Fern made that threatening call to her, we have to do it ourselves and this is my own storyline using my imagination.

Just after Holly gets that threatening call from Fern about her being on her way over with her gun to shoot her, she is frightened. So she asks her husband Perry to help her and he is scared of knowing what to do so she and Oprah make a decision to pack up move and leave her and on her way out she asks to have her weather girl job transferred to another TV station to the town she moves to with Oprah and she gets Oprah into another fine school there.

Now as far as Fern going after her, from her cell phone Holly calls up Richie to get Ferns location before Fern makes a move and here is what happens. Holly calls up the police they pick up Fern for threatening to murder Holly and the police grab Fern and put her in jail.
