Useless in Trek

Pegg was completely and utterly useless in Star Trek, talk about how to make a character irritating! Who on earth decided to cast him???

He was very good IMO. Fit in with the more humorous tone of the series.

He was funny and fit the role of Scotty just fine. I would say it had a fantastic cast.

honestly, the first moment I felt at EASE was when he showed up on the Screen

I'm sure Abrams cast him because they were friends from M-I:3, but I was glad to see "Tim from Spaced" IN Space.

Plus, his character was probably over-excited since it had been so long since he'd been with PEOPLE

Useless in Trek? Useless in EVERYTHING he's in.

I'm sorry but this man is just the luckiest guy on the planet; he get's all these roles just because of all the Shaun of the Dead fanboys who are still riding his ass on that one hit wonder.

Any regular guy could do his job ... better.

I would bet every penny I own that you couldnt.

Probably why you dislike the guy so much.

I do like Simon a lot. His best work is in the films he has a hand in writing, where he gets to say what he himself finds funny, not what some script writer thinks will please mass audiences. I didn't really like him in this, he was a bit like Star Trek's Jar Jar Binks. Again, not his fault, that's how he's ben told to do portray Scotty, to bring comic relief. If he had written the part himself, it would have been a million miles away from how it turned outand undoubtedly, much better.
Still, I look forward to his next self penned project and in general, Star Trek was an excellent film.
