What's the closest he's done to a serious acting role?

And is he good at it?

I think he would be great in a serious role. I guess "Fantastic Fear of Everything" that has a premiere in June is kinda serious. At least more serious than any of his previous comedies.
I don´t know...maybe the new Mission Impossible? It was a light-hearted action movie but he had some good scenes in it that weren´t exactly funny.

I dont think it was meant to be light hearted but he made it so,cant think of any other comedian who could have made some scenes as funny as he did.
The scene where his big face shows up on the silver screen is classic,i rewound that half a dozen times when i first saw it.

The closest he's ever had to playing a really serious character was in the band of brothers which he was in quite briefly and also had to do an American accent for. He wasn't in it very much though. Besides that probably the closest would be in a good night although he still had a lightness to his character that he brings to most of his roles. Hope that helps :)

Big Nothing is a more serious role, I guess. Well, it is a very, very black comedy, and it isn´t really funny - it is one of these multigenre movies that works pretty well but the story is weaker. It is one of these "we got into trouble and ended up hiding dead bodies" sort of thing.

I believe you mean a dramatic role, where as I'm sure he takes all his roles seriously.

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

He was awesome in Big Nothing! Very underrated flick!

for me his role in How to lose friends and alienate people was a rather serious one and I liked his performance in that film:)
