He's become "that" guy

He's that guy who's face is put on a movie poster, trailer, or TV/streaming series that producers think presumptuously will draw viewers. He was great in Breaking Bad but that's about it. Breaking Bad is over and there's no going back.

Yeah, right. He's won three Emmy Awards and he's currently in two shows, but in your world he has no furture in acting. 

And btw, he gets paid $225,000 per episode of "The Path," which has been renewed for a second season.

To be fair, those Emmy Awards were all for...Breaking Bad. Not to mention, they're the Emmy's. They've given Jim Parsons about 83 awards for Big Bang Theory.

Also, an entertainer's salary has less to do with talent, and more to do with broad popular appeal. Number 1 on that link is De Niro. His best work is rightfully considered decades behind him. The only decent movies he's gotten in a decade have been when David O. Russell needs a film to have an irksome father.

Number 2? Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel? The last memorable thing Bledel did in Hollywood was Sin City, where she could barely keep up with Josh Hartnett. Quite possibly the worst acting job in a massive ensemble effort. (Might as well mention the $1 million per episode each member of the Friends' cast eventually made. I like most of the actors, though they're never going on an Oscar streak.)

Yeah, Aaron Paul is likable. He'll keep getting work. He can ride the coattails of Breaking Bad for years if he has to. But from my perspective, there's two ways his career goes: 1) He proves himself as a true actor with range, or 2) He keeps taking random jobs until he retires, never becoming a "great".

Lauren, Alexis and Aaron are all great actors. And they deserve the money they earn.

reply

Can you explain your rationale?

I judge actors by range. Can they play vastly different characters with different mannerisms? Different voices/accents? Can they change their facial expressions to fit the role?

"Great" to me would be Gary Oldman, Meryl Streep, Daniel Day Lewis, etc...Gary Oldman is so varied, I haven't even recognized him in some films. I don't see any evidence of transformative acting from Lauren, Alexis, or Aaron.
