next Bond

he lost out to Craig for Casino but cmon he could still do it now (Brosnan got his shot after losing out to Dalton). ok he over 50 but only looks mid 40s. and unlike Craig he would actually look like Bond

reply

Before Craig was cast I always thought and still do that Dougray Scott would have been an ideal Bond. Clive Owen would be decent too.

Casino Royale was a g̶o̶o̶d̶ solid film & I liked Craig in Layer Cake but felt he was never quite right as Bond. I could never shake the feeling that Clive Owen was perfect for the role, who's look & performance style I feel better fit the direction the franchise was going in. Sadly Owen is likely [edit: "considered"] too old to takeover and reboot the franchise at this point and will forever remain as the ultimate "what if".

Owen in CR would've been awesome. Craig was torn to shreds before anyone saw him in the movie (CriagnotBond.com, 'Blonde Bond', too short, Sid James etc etc) but once it came out he was such a good actor he made everyone forget he wasn't 'Bond looking' and was great in the role. but really he looks so unlike what you imagine Bond to be (and under 6ft) its still quite jarring whenever you see pics promoting a new Bond movie (then he has to win everyone over again in the movie). I get we'd had 40+ years of tall dark (or brown in Moores case) handsome male model Bonds and get they were going for more realism if Bond were to exist in the real world approach (like Bourne/Batman) but tall dark handsome dudes can still be exSAS MI6 agents in the real world. imo Owen would've been more suited, he was just perfect - his look, height, build, persona, delivery etc hed have been every bit as cool as Craig but with the added bonus of actually looking like what you expect Bond to look like

He would have been the ideal Bond in 2005 1000 times better than the bland boring wooden ugly Graig

Just seen Owen on Colbert and I think he would’ve perfectly fit in Bond’s role. Nobody doubted in his ability anyway. But, unfortunately this is what you get if you google “Who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond?”

Idris Elba
Since then, Steven Spielberg has said Elba should be the first choice to replace Craig. A producer on the Bond franchise reportedly said it's time for a non-white actor to take over the role. Elba tweeted, "My name's Elba, Idris Elba," and took a selfie with Craig.Mar 8, 2019

IDRIS ELBA IS A BADASS ACTOR AND JUST PLAIN BADASS.MAYBE I WILL END MY BOND SLUMBER FOR HIM.

reply

Considering they think Daniel is too old they won't go with Idris... My guess is they go with some very young snowflake and try to appeal attract a younger audience. Not that I really car anymore... The producers have been going so far away from the original character that it is just becoming a joke.

Bond has to be 30 plus but Elba is way too old even though he´s "only 47", he looks every bit of his age imo.

reply

I don't think the producers are going to let the original books determine the age of the next bond. In the new movie they have already completely ignored the logic of 007 being a number that is given to an agent and goes away when the agent quits or dies. It signals that they don't care about the way Ian wrote the Bond books, they have pretty much tossed that out the window. Frankly as off the rails as the producers seem to be it wouldn't surprise me if they make the next bond a transgender midget.

reply

But Elba doesn't want the role. He's said as much REPEATEDLY.

reply

Aidan Turner would be the PERFECT bond.

Which one?

reply

Aidan Turner (The Hobbit) would be fantastic but I think he is too old compared for the Producers preference for the role.
