I know that Em has said she pretty much rewrote all of her lines, and she especially tried to make the point that they didn't need to beat the audience over the head with the message and let her character speak for herself, but I wonder about some of the other characters? I wonder if maybe the pacing was to blame for some of the cheesiness? Like maybe they'd filmed some intermediate scenes so the actors could get a better sense of where their characters had come from? I know that Emily has talked about what she did to prepare for the role, and I really wanted to see that translate more onscreen. Just felt that it all started happening all of a sudden, you know? Like when the initial profile screen change was seized upon by Lindsay & co.. Felt that more time needed to be spent in establishing that Taylor was excited at the prospect of online freedom. As it was, just came across like her mom was just nagging at her, typical teenage stuff ('mom, I know, quit bugging me!' etc.). I got the feeling that Emily was internalizing a lot of things that didn't quite come across on screen (situation with her dad, her own social awkwardness, etc...). Far be it from to ever say anything bad about Emily 'Our Panda Queen of the Stunningly-Gorgeous Blue-Gray Eyes' Osment, so I'm going to say that I think she did ok with it, but, if she was freed from the restrictions of it being an ABC movie, I think she could have done a *lot* more with it...
Some people on the Cyberbully board have been *brutal* in their reactions to the portrayal of Taylor. Well, I don't recall anyone saying that she was perfect, nor was she meant to be, but I do think that (going back to my point about Taylor/Emily internalizing everything) her super-important lines about 'I thought it was just me, like I was some sort of freak' didn't quite translate...which was unfortunate.
