Why all the hate?

I, personally, love Nolan's work. But, lately, everywhere I turn, there is hate whenever I mention him in my top 3 list of directors. I think his movies have depth and emotional connect, as well.

Just ignore those people. Nolan is currently far and away the most popular and respected director, even among the general audience. And hatred is proportional to the amount of praises someone gets, so naturally Nolan has a lot of haters (or a vocal minority of people who hate him) but the amount of love he gets far makes up for it.

He's among the greats, but has he moved film making such as Hitchcock breaking the film code for later Kubrick films? Spielberg creating PG-13 for The Dark Knight? Kubrick introducing Dolby digital for all of film?

Technical achievements, Nolan is in the pot towards greatness, but impacting film? On levels said? Alfred did try to shoot rope using one take just for fun, Nolan needs to break a few more limits, while providing those good stories. I'm not a hater, but....lets be fair. The Michael Jordan is still Alfred Hitchcock.

Nolan established a trend for the feature IMAX films not just in Hollywood but around the world as well, which grew up in IMAX being the most popular advanced movie format right now and almost all high-budget films being released in it.

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

Nah, Avatar was the one that blew up the IMAX trend.

Spielberg was said in the 2016 presidential debate; therefore Spielberg is still the current leader of Film making of our generation. Forget Nolan and Wes, they yet to dethrone the boss of the jews. The Dark Knight was great but not important. Isn't it today that Nolan is shooting a Schindler's list of his own? Imax is older than Nolan rise. Film is still being pushed to stay by Spielberg.

What? Avatar wasn't even filmed with IMAX cameras (it was filmed in FullHD quality, actually , and was simply converted to the format), and came out a year after The Dark Knight.

Nolan, I love you forever!
