Why is the sound in his movies so awful?

The dialogue tends to be really quiet or with obnoxiously incomprehensible voices and the action sequences are EXTREMELY LOUD. Why is this?

reply

If Hans Zimmer is awful. I don't think any sound is movie should be call good.

reply

The problem isn't with the actual score composed by Zimmer but with Nolan's sound design and mixing team.

reply

Zimmer like to use loud sound to pleasure people (Why so serious scene in The Dark Knight) but I don't see loud sound is problem.

reply

Perhaps Nolan has hearing problems. Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar were so loud, they were the two most miserable theater experiences I've ever had.

reply

They are supposed to be heared in IMAX. They are designed for IMAX sound system.

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

He has seeing problems, he has hearing problems... yet how does he manage to film all this magnificent movies?
