Because he makes blockbusters which drives people to think and has personal touch to all of them. Inception, The Prestige and Interstellar has meta levels, even. For example, Inception can be seen as a metaphor to the filmmaking itself, and the train in this film symbolizes Nolan's love to his wife. Read the quote about "Waiting for a train" thinking about it, and it will let you see it through a totally different and fresh point of view. The scene with Fischer and his father in this film is also very meaningful, considering that Nolan himself lost his father somewhere close to the time when this film was made. He died from a cancer. Interstellar is an open letter of Nolan to the one of his daughters, about the simple thing: even if he's about to leave her to shoot his new film, he will always come back, just like Cooper came back to Murph in this film.
There's A LOT of personal touches and intimate details like this in his films. That is what I am loving him for. And he also chooses my favorite actors to work with.
Nolan, I love you forever!
