RIP

He was great in Clear and Present danger as the US President who launches an illegal covert op against the drugs cartel. His confrontation with Harrison Ford's Jack Ryan in the Oval Office is explosive stuff. He was a memorable Vice President Lyndon Johnson in The Right Stuff. Love the scene when John Glenn's wife refused to let him into her house.

By the way, I had no idea was born in England.

RIP: Did a great job in the Thing and let's also not forget the memorable role he played in Houseguest with Goldie Hawn & Steve Martin.

PS: Also his role as the tax collector on Popeye was hysterical.

I didn't know he was English born either. I've just noticed his first film was a British one. But I think that after that he was in the US only. R.I.P.

I remember him from a segment of the 1980s version of the Twilight Zone called The Star in which he starred with Fritz Weaver. It was based on a short story by Arthur C. Clarke and I really enjoyed it and have always remembered it. RIP
