Her and Joan Jett

Yah, she would be a great JJ if they ever make another movie about her.

Yeah, I know she wasn't the right age. But they still should have picked her over Kristen Stewart.

Kate has a softer, gentler look, whereas Joan looks more hard and intimidating...

But, they do have a strong sameness about them. It's more in style than looks though. And, it's more when Kate was playing "Shane" on The L-Word. I swear, that character HAD TO be somewhat based on Joan! Everything from the attitude of that character, to the things she wears, to her reactions to things, to her standoffish, aloof nature, and her cool swagger and way with the ladies is very much Joan (yes JJ's fanbase is quite lesbian)! Shane also tended to be the diplomat of the bunch on that show, who gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and avoided catty drama- also like Joan.

I think even if no-one ever admits to it, the Shane character was inspired by and largely based on Joan Jett- at least personality and style-wise. But, probably no-one will ever admit Joan's influence on that character, because if they did, it would be like outting Joan, and as mysterious as Joan likes to be, that would not be a very welcome thing.
