She was good, once upon a time.

Believe it or not, there was a time when Liza was more than a camp icon and a punchline, there were a few years when she was actually a good actress. Specifically, 1968 to 1972, when she made "The Sterile Cuckoo" and "Cabaret" and a few other films, and actually gave terrific performances!

Gone are the days, stardom ruined her as an actress.

hard to believe she won an oscar.

Think what you wish. She always had a flair for comedy which went scarcely untapped over the years. Mitch Hurwitz was able to use that side of her very well and memorably in Arrested Development in its pre-Netflix incarnation.

I saw both films a few years ago. I was a small child when they were released. She was great in both.

She was good in the late 70s/early 80s too. “New York, New York” and “Arthur” for example.
