Wentworth won Man of the Year at the Attitude Awards

Congratulations Wentworth. 😃

Attitude is a LGBTQ magazine here in the UK, quite popular and these awards get quite a bit of media coverage. Wentworth won Man of the Year for the work he's done this year on raising the awareness of mental health issues and his openness on the subject.

Here's a little photo Wentworth posted from the awards last night.

Congratulations! That's fantastic.

- What about being proud of being me ? -

That's exactly what I've been saying here. He's not appreciated by his fans. Just look at this message board of his. Where are his fans now when he gets rewarded by the gay community. Not here, for sure.

Most of the message boards on IMDB ain't as active as they used to be for the majority of performers. But there's other platforms to show support.

Wentworth has over 1.3 million likes on Facebook, 943,000 followers on instragram and 126,000 followers on Twitter and fans are showing great support in these places.

- My point is that part of his fanbase came from cultures, that treat gay and trans folks like trash. So they left, after he came out.

I am aware of that, and so they should! The people that support him are people that support human rights, not fawns. The crazy fangirls are closing their Wentloco forums because he is gay.

But like I pointed out the forums for performers in general on IMDB ain't as active as they used to be and i'm not just singling Wentworth out for this.

Also speaking as a fan of many out performers ie. Frank Ocean, Ian McKellen, George Michael yes there are always going to be narrow minded people out there but to be honest, I stopped worrying/caring about what they think years ago. As far as I see they are the ones missing out in the long term.

Also regarding popularity and career i'd say Went is doing fine. I think those few years out of the limelight done him a world of good, he seems much happier in himself and more open. He's also working the most he has since 2009. He got mobbed at the Attitude Awards as well lol.

Yeah I totally get your point! But would it kill the once that are posting here to congratulate him??!!!That was my point.

I think those few years out of the limelight done him a world of good, he seems much happier in himself and more open. What did him good was coming out. That is also what cost him a large group of his fans, which is also a huge benifit for him (to have new fans not following him on set like when he was in Belgium doing the Loft). Now he's got followers that don't have dilusional purpose. He's gained freedom from the puritan fawns that he needed at the time to pay his bills. Now he's free because he came out!(And only for that reason).

Again, congrats to Wentie!!! 
