Love his guy

Ok, this board needs a new Mewes post, so here goes.

I admire Jay. As someone who has dealt with substance abuse trouble, I can only imagine what it would have been like if I was 20 years old, becoming famous, in New Jersey, then moving to Hollywood, and Malibu and living that life at 25 years old....

The fact that he is alive is amazing. I would have OD'd for sure.

Smith has said that people tell him "Oh, I knew someone just like Jay". Well, I didn't, and I realized it was because I was that guy. And his story of overcoming addiction is inspiring. I still have trouble, but I put my demon down for good about 8 years ago. Still one day at a time though.

I wonder sometimes what would have been if there would not be a Jay. I really don't thin Kevin Smith would be what he is. I'm not saying Jay made him, but I do think there careers are tied. Jay stole every scene in Smith's early movies. Without Jay, I really don't think Smith would have the career he has.

Not a slam, but it is what it is.

I hear Jason is about to become a dad, and that he bought his 1st home over these last few years.

His podcast with Smith is wonderful, and I wish him nothing but the best.

Great job on controlling your addictions! I love the Get Old podcasts. They're entertaining and very sweet and I'm sure help a lot of people. I agree that I think without Jay, a lot of Kevin Smith wouldn't be. Hell, a movie was based solely on them after a while. When I was a kid, it was Jay that I found the funniest and most memorable.

Both men are excellent entertainers. And, despite a lot of stories from Mewes about horrible things in his life, he seems like a very, very lovable and caring person and the love these two have for each other is very sweet.

And again, hats off to you. Not an easy thing to do every day.

I really like him too. I didn't know of his troubles and really felt for him when I heard he went missing and resurfaced "after his mother died." I wish him the best, I know how hard life can be, and hopefully he's going to be more than okay now.
