I've just seen it and am trying to find out if anyone can confirm the legitimacy of the "actors" during his encore? Anybody who saw the show live, does he really pick people from the audience, or were they stooges? They both seemed too good at what they were doing to be true, without being unrealistic in their acting abilities, if you know what I mean?

But to answer your post, I thought it was a good stand-up, not amazing, I also see the similarities, but for some reason I felt like Merchant was intentionally copying some of Ricky's techniques (delivery, timing, et cetera). Maybe that's just their thing, but that's just how it came across to me.

I saw it last week in London and I LOVED it! I thought it was absolutely brilliant. And yes, he did take people from the audience up on stage (not the same people as in the dvd) and they guy was giggling so hard, it was hilarious ^^

And of course he tells the same type of jokes as Ricky but they've been friends a long time work together, naturally they are similar :) I saw Ricky's 'Science' in Glasgow and it was no way near as good as 'Hello Ladies'.

Ive seen it twice, and its definitely real people that he picks from the audience.
The second time I saw him the woman he picked didn't have a clue what she was doing. It was beyond awkward, even Merchant looked panicked by her stupidity!
Needless to say it added to the hilarity of it all! The man is a genius!

Don't believe the hype!
