Mississippi Grind

Probably most people don't know that Ben had a number of Australian relationship TV roles in his thirties and had especially good chemistry with an Australian actress Claudia Karvan. I don't know if that's the kind of relationship he has with Tipton's character because she's quite young but I know he's very good at that sort of thing in addition to the type of roles he's had since "Animal Kingdom."

I find gambling disturbing but I'm going to watch "Mississippi Grind" because I know he'll be terrific as usual. I just wish he'd play a character that is more likeable.

The gambling though isn't that dark subject matter wise in this. It does deal with it but this is more about second chances and starting over and it was nice to see that for one of Ben's recent characters.

Thanks, I've been reading great things about his acting in this. In one scene a reviewer said he makes your heart ache and that wouldn't be the first time he's done that to me. I can't think of another actor who can touch me like he can.

I totally agree. I loved his character in this movie. The reviews have been so great too and I totally agree with them.

If this was a "bigger" film that got more attention, Ben would be an Oscar candidate. Astonishing performance, one of his best (and that's saying something).

Yesterday Ben got nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his role as Gerry!!! So happy for him and he was amazing in this film.
