Looks like hes not getting steady work.

Peppering of roles here and there, nothing concrete.
Guess he's just another star who will fade.

He's been on Grey's Anatomy for like a decade man, that's the definition of steady work. Once that's over and his schedule frees up he will probably start getting more roles.

So working on Greys Anatomy for almost its entire run doesn't count? I've never seen the show personally, but working on it for a decade and being in over 170 episodes seems like pretty steady work to me. It's definitely not a bit part.

I would imagine it takes up a lot of time just filming that show, maybe he just likes spending time with his family or something other than constantly working

Grey's Anatomy pays the bills.

But McKidd has far more potential than this as evidenced in Rome. He's just not standard Hollywood fodder which is why he's not getting roles that he could easily handle IMO.

Kevin is one of my favourite actors but I lost interest after he got lost in Grays Anatomy. I watched a few series but soon realised it was a poor mans ER and mostly rubbish. From his point of view,Im sure it pays the bills, gives him a nice bank balance but IMO he is capable of so much more. I have wanted him to walk away for years. If he is not careful he could become like Scotty out of Star Trek, typecast or called upon when they need a Scotsman in the production. Just saying. Now that he has become an American citizen, completely lost interest in him.

Many actors can only dream of having steady work in a successful series. Especially those with school age children who need stability. Plus, he must be making a fortune to be on Grey's year after year. And that's not a small thing!
