Some users started a petition:
https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/petition-to-keep-the-imdb-messageboards-going#

Let's sign, guys. We can't let the boards go that easily.

I don't think the petition will help. Amazon owns the site and the boards aren't making money for them.

A lot of people are starting forums on Freeforum, so that's an option for James's fans.

Do you have any talents?
Well, I'm an Alcoholic.

Thanks for the incentive. 

Even though this board is my main concern, I come to IMDb to talk about the films I like too, or simply browse the boards of films I found interesting or wanted to learn more about. It'll be a HUGE loss to intelligent film discussion. There isn't, and there will never be, anything similar to the IMDb MBs. I really hope they'll reconsider it. A petition is the only thing we can do to try and save the place, at this point.

Bye Bye ?? Everyone it's been real! Between the laughable trolls, folks who are just in denial and intelligent thoughtful conversation you will be missed!

I wish you all well in your real lives!Xo!!!!

I was very saddened to read that IMDb will be shutting down its discussion threads.

I have enjoyed discussing James’ career with so many people around the world for so many years. It has been a pleasure watching him grow as an actor and an admirable man. There have been quiet times as he concentrated on his family and personal life. While other times the interviews and videos were coming in faster than we could post them. It was a real team effort with people posting from many different countries.

I felt reluctant to let many of these conversations to be lost forever and the information “as it happened” to be unavailable for future fans which will continue to grow in number as his career takes off to even greater things. Unfortunately, many great threads have already been lost over the years but I have created a “living archive” of many of the oldest and longest threads on JAMSession. (Yes, as many of you may have known or suspected, I am LC on there.

http://jamsession.yuku.com/forums/256/sort/title/direction/ASC#.WKYaRvkrLIU - you may need to copy/paste that link since it isn't working for me.

I saved the alphabet threads by posting each post independently, including crediting the ID of the original poster and time of the post for posterity along with the content. The ID is not traceable to anyone and I suspect that even the identities will be lost when IMDb shuts down the threads.

However, if anyone would like a post or all their posts deleted, please send me a DM asap. Please provide a link to the post or the ID if all the posts need to be deleted and I will do it as soon as possible. Another option is to just delete the ID/name and leave the posts for continuity.

In addition to the alphabet threads, I have posted just the titles of a few of the old and long threads that I hope to continue copying. Again, please let me know if that creates a problem for anyone because I want to respect everyone’s privacy while trying to maintain this part of history in James’ career.

JAMSession seemed like the most logical format since it is the most similar to IMDb in maintaining continuity to a thread that Tumblr & twitter can not do. Plus, there is already a site up and running with content dedicated to just James and his career.

I invite you to continue posting on any of these threads by simple registration on JAMSession as your original ID or create a new one. Also, feel free to share information about James on any of the other threads on the site.

It should be a fantastic year for James and all his McAvoyeurs. As always, I truly believe the best is yet to come!!!!

Hope to continue our conversations, but most of all, I’ve enjoyed our years together. Thanks for the memories.
