Meeting Jayne Mansfield

Jayne Mansfield was the first movie star I ever met. It happened in June of 1964 in Framingham, Massachusetts, where she was starring in a production of the musical "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" at a summer theater in the round called the Carousel Theatre. Living nearby and being on summer break from school, I would go there during the day to watch Mansfield and the rest of cast rehearse. She rehearsed while wearing a bikini, which added to the thrill of seeing this much publicized sex symbol in person. I had the opportunity to meet and get autographs from Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay, who was also appearing in the show. It's a great memory from my boyhood.

That's so cool! I had a school teacher who once met Garbo in NYC.
