Now rumored to be the next James Bond.

Meh.

I've seen him in a few things and he was fine, but Bond? More like Bond's uninteresting assistant.

reply

No. He's decided to be Elton John instead. See 'Rocketman' (2019). Sounds like it's going to be an uncensored account. Unlike Freddie Mercury in 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'

reply

What, did they get Elton to agree to a biopic, by hiring someone 100x hotter than the real man ever was?

reply

Elton probably bribed them to do that. I have to admit that it doesn't look good casting.

reply

Madden is a good actor, and for all I know the finished film could be good.

Still, if they include a shirtless scene and Madden shows off his abs, I'm going to laugh out loud in the theater at the historical inaccuracy. Elton was always a doughy little thing.

reply

I've just watched a teaser trailer on IMDb. Madden is seen with swimming trunks only fall-diving into a swimming pool. I don't think Elton ever looked like that. Definitely a bribe I say.

reply

Yeah, but who's bribing who? Did the producers get Elton to agree to the film by promising they'd make him look hotter than he ever was in real life, or did Elton insist?

Well, both parties win by casting a hot guy, even if it's not at all accurate. But at least they hired a hot guy who can act.

reply

I'm confused the actor playing Elton in Rocketman is Taron Egerton, which doesn't disprove your argument of hotter casting but it's not Richard Madden...

Referring to him being James Bond, I up for it, I think he could do a good job as long as it has a really good script and supporting characters, I don't think he could pull it off with his charisma. For example, I thought that Brosnan was a really good Bond regardless how bad the movies were in terms of script and such, he could pull it off because of his persona, contrary to Madden who would need a good script and supporting characters to pull it off.

If they do cast him I believe is because they want to go for that type of bond a serious one and not go for an old school Goldeneye bond, which I am not sure what I would like to be honest.

Not really looking forward to the next new Bond movie, we'll see what we get with the last Craig Bond movie.

reply

He is listed as 5'9", which probably means IRL he is 5'7" or 5'8". He is too short to be Bond.

reply

I watched the first episode of Bodyguard just because of the hype about him potentially being the next James Bond, and I was left very unimpressed by both him and the show. I didn't think it was possible to be more vanilla and generic than Daniel Craig, but Madden has somehow pulled it off. Daniel Craig has watered down the Bond character so much to the point that any generic action star is being considered for the role now. Maybe Madden could pull off the crappy fake martial arts that Daniel Craig is so good at, but can he behave properly around a baccarat table? I don't see it. Madden would be the third crappy choice in a row for the role of Bond.

Him! Bond! Ha Ha, it would be funny to watch him fuck that up for sure.
