Everyone Does It

I think it's great when scandals like these are exposed. We all knew it was happening, but it feels different when we have proof. We ought to assume every celebrity is doing it, because, why wouldn't they? It's rare they wouldn't need to. Top schools have single digit acceptance rates. Celebrities are not making the cut, even if they're smart.

The other important thing to recognize is that they're not doing it to get a good education. They're doing it for social status. We need to stop thinking of these schools as the pinnacle of human achievement. People who earned their place at these school no longer have the reputation they deserve. They should sue.

Yale for instance is a joke. I know so many people there who just shouldn't have been accepted. It is all about money and status there. Most of the students cheat their asses off during their years at Yale. Actually achieving something isn't held in high regard anymore.

I know extremely intelligent overachievers who were accepted to ivy League schools and it's obvious they didn't need to cheat to get in or pass a test.

The celebrities' kids sound like slackers. There probably would've been a great paying job ready for them after graduation from a "family friend with great connections", too.

Uh-huh. Sure you do...

Yes, this is such a fair world, and socioeconomic privilege and rich people scamming the system to obtain elite academic and professional advantages are so rare...🙄

Hopefully this big news story will bring down the elite academic system by exposing it for what it really is, and has been for decades. A con for the privileged to maintain their privileges at the expense of everyone else, and pretend that they 'earned it' to make everyone else look bad.

I don't know any "elite" nor am I defending them since they obviously use their connections to get ahead.

Poor and working-class people have to overachieve in order to make it into an Ivy League school when they have no connections or money. Not all regular folks are stupid or slackers and are able to achieve on their own merits. And yes, I do know a few of them.
